Excellent Private Tours with Rosina & Randy’s Tours We had a wonderful experience with Rosina and Randy’s Tours during our 2-day private tours in Cape Town. On the first day, we explored the Cape Peninsula, including Camps Bay, Chapman’s Peak, Cape Point, Boulders Beach and Simon’s Town. On the second day, we enjoyed a beautiful Winelands tour covering Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, including a visit to Drakenstein Prison and several wine estates. Rosina was very helpful and responsive throughout the planning. She listened carefully to our requests and was flexible in adjusting the itinerary to suit our group of 7. Our driver was punctual, friendly, knowledgeable and patient, allowing us to enjoy the places at a comfortable pace without feeling rushed. The vehicle was comfortable and the whole experience felt safe and well organised. What we particularly appreciated was the personalised service. Whenever we had a special request, Rosina and the team did their best to accommodate us. For a group travelling together, I would highly recommend Randy’s Tours for anyone looking for a reliable, comfortable and personalised private tour experience in Cape Town. Thank you, Rosina and team, for helping make our Cape Town trip so memorable!

Exceptional service Randy’s Tours specifically Rosina, met us in Cape Town airport and drove us to our hotel , Rosina was waiting for us , assisted with luggage and pointed out places of interest along the route. We planned 2 separate days of excursions with Rosina to Cape of Good Hope and Penguin beach, and a second day of wine tasting. Rosina chose the excellent vineyards in 3 separate areas. all beautiful locations. Both days were truly amazing and will stay in our memories for ever. Worth a mention Rosina is an excellent driver and provides excellent knowledge and insight to the history of South Africa, comfortable conditioned vehicle with plenty of space.

5 day private tour I cannot recommend Randy's Tours highly enough for the service they provided. I contacted Rosina in January and asked her to build our itinerary for the short time we had in Cape Town. Communication was excellent and Rosina put together 5 days of tours and experiences we will all remember for years to come. From her picking us up at the airport to dropping us back off there 6 days later the service was outstanding. Rosina's knowledge of the area and history of the Cape is second to none and it was fascinating to listen to her tell of the culture and also hear personal stories about growing up in SA. Rosina took great care of us during our 5 days with her and became a real friend to the family; nothing was too much for her. There were a couple of times we couldn't do what we wanted due to the effects of a recent storm but alternatives were offered and duly taken. Rosina was very prompt on morning pick ups so no time was wasted waiting for transport which again allowed us to make the most effective use of our time. If you are looking for a tour guide in Cape Town - either for the whole time like us, or simply a day trip, you will not be disappointed with Randy's. Vehicle was always spotless and very comfortable as family photos clearly show some very tired, sleeping people! Rosina - thank you for everything you did for us. I will certainly be in touch should we visit again.

Fabulous day trips! We’ve used Randy’s Tours on previous trips to Cape Town and were keen to use them again on this trip. As before we used them for airport transfers and day trips to Cape Point, the wine lands and the Cape Peninsula. Faried and Rosina are punctual, knowledgeable, flexible, helpful, good fun and professional. Their cars are clean, safe and comfortable. Time spent with either of them is much more than a conventional “day trip”. I would highly recommend their company.

The history of winemaking in Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, and Paarl

The Cape Winelands region has a storied history of winemaking, dating back to the 17th century when the Dutch settlers first arrived in South Africa. Stellenbosch, the second-oldest town in the country, played a pivotal role in establishing the wine industry. Its fertile soil and Mediterranean climate proved ideal for grape cultivation, and today, Stellenbosch is home to some of the most prestigious vineyards in the world.

Franschhoek, meaning “French Corner” in Dutch, owes its name to the Huguenot refugees who brought their winemaking expertise from France in the late 17th century. The influence of these French settlers can still be seen in the vineyards and wine estates of Franschhoek, where classic French grape varieties are cultivated to produce exceptional wines.

On the other hand, Paarl is known as the birthplace of South African wine. In this region, the first wine was made in 1659, setting the stage for the country’s thriving wine industry. Paarl’s unique terroir, with its granite and shale mountain ranges, contributes to the distinct characteristics of the wines produced here.

Uncovering Paarl – the birthplace of South African wine

With its scenic beauty and rich winemaking history, Paarl is a must-visit destination for wine enthusiasts. One of the iconic landmarks in Paarl is the Paarl Rock, a massive granite rock formation that overlooks the town. – Swirl the wine gently to release its aromas.

– Take small sips and allow the flavours to linger on your palate.

– Spit or dump excess wine if you’re tasting multiple wines.

– Engage with the wine-tasting staff and ask questions about the wines.

These guidelines will allow you to thoroughly enjoy the subtleties and intricacies of the wines sampled in the Cape Winelands.

– Chenin Blanc with seafood: The crisp acidity and fruity notes of Chenin Blanc complement the delicate flavours of seafood, such as oysters and prawns.

– Cabernet Sauvignon with red meat: The robust tannins and bold flavours of Cabernet Sauvignon pair perfectly with grilled steaks and lamb chops.

– Chardonnay with creamy dishes: The Chardonnay’s buttery texture and subtle oak flavours complement creamy dishes like risotto and roasted chicken.

– Pinotage with South African cuisine: Pinotage, a uniquely South African grape variety, pairs well with local dishes like bobotie and boerewors.

You can elevate your culinary experience in the Cape Winelands by exploring different food and wine pairings.
